Welcome to Flavor of Beauty

Living Life, in Full Color

Hello Everyone!  I am Dr. Dorothy “Michelle” Mayfield and welcome to my page.  Allow me to share a little more about myself. I am also known as Coach Michelle and am the owner and founder of Flavor of Beauty, an organization designed to benefit young girls ages 5 to 19 and their mothers.

I graduated from Jameson School of Theology and received my doctoral degree in Theology and also earned my certification as a Parenting Coach. Inspired by God’s covenant rainbow, girls are taught how to color their world with beauty. Through mentorship, Flavor of Beauty is dedicated to enhancing the lives of young girls and their mothers through education, community service and faith-based principles.

I compare myself to the rudder on a ship who guides young girls into their “Flavor of Beauty.” Despite what life has thrown at them, I'm their earth angel guiding young ladies to be the best version of themselves. Through my own personal experience, I reach into the lives of young girls and their mothers who have gone through struggles, hardships, and emotional pain similar to my own childhood. Through Flavor of Beauty, I have the opportunity to enhance their lives; and also, to empower them to live full and colorful lives.

I am not striving for success (profit & popularity). Instead, I am striving to make a significant difference in the life of others especially in this generation of young ladies.  If I fail to empower my fellow man on this journey then I have missed the mark, especially as a minister of the gospel, but also as a human being created in God's image. My purpose is to use the world as my pulpit to bring glory to God, the restorer of my soul and the lifter of my once bowed down head. This site highlights my passion to reach young girls and their mothers.

I was born in the Peach State of Georgia and raised in a little town called Millen.  From the ages of 2 to 10 years old, I was raised by my grandparents. As I reflect on my childhood, I did not realize that I grew up in a family that was filled with brokenness. Because of my parents brokenness, they did not know how to express love. Instead of receiving love and healthy emotional support from my parents, as the oldest sibling, I always seems to receive the brunt of discipline.  In response, I became filled with anger and lashed out by verbally and physically fighting my mother.

My family was not a church-going family, but went to church about once a month, if that. We attended out of tradition, but I was never taught about having a relationship with God. During one of the confrontations with my mother, I remember her saying that if I disrespected her that I would shorten my days, making reference to Ephesians 6:1-3.  At the age of 14, I was so shaken by the incident that I went to my room and cried out to God for His help and forgiveness. I prayed and promised the Lord that I would not do this again, and from that moment on, I never fought my mother.

Out of my experience, God has placed a burden on my heart to reach into the lives of young girls who have gone through or are going through a situation that was similar to mine. Through God's grace, He has truly given me beauty for ashes, strength for mourning and peace for despair. He has turned the sky of my life that was once filled with gray clouds with vibrant beautiful colors.  It's what I call Flavor of Beauty.

We serve an awesome God who has beautifully colored each of our worlds in some way. His covenant rainbow is a constant reminder of this to us and is significant to the vision of Flavor of Beauty. Just like the seven colors of the rainbow, Flavor of Beauty is based upon seven key components:  Love, Health, Spiritual Health, Career, Inner Healing,  Entrepreneurship and Public Speaking.  Each of these areas are designed to enhance the lives of young girls ages 5 to 19 years of age, empowering them to live full and colorful lives.

Here are a few fun facts about me.  I am called by a few different names, but my favorite is Peaches. I was affectionately given this name by my husband. My favorite flavor in life is chocolate. It's robust, gives me a boost, is rich and full of flavor!!!
So, what's your favorite flavor? Drop me a line at [email protected] and let me know. I would love to hear from you.

I'm married to Bishop Darrell D. Mayfield, together we have eight children and one who is deceased and a number of grandchildren.
